Reducing Texile Waste

Our mission here at Alf-Phi is to create classic, timeless children's wear from pre-loved, up-cycled, and vintage textiles. thereby doing what we can to help lessen the huge toll textile waste is taking on our planet. Did you know that the textile industry is the second MOST polluting on earth, next to oil?

Textile waste has increased 811% since 1960 and now close to 15 million tons of waste is generated every year in the US alone. 15 million tons! That is a crazy, astronomical number and we here at Alf-Phi are committed to reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible. That is why we only use preloved or vintage materials to create our pieces. When it comes to sustainability, using thrifted, second hand textiles is the best and only way to go.

All our fabrics are sustainable – having been either reclaimed from deadstock, up-cycled or are vintage textiles. To uphold our status as a responsible company we strive to be 100% zero waste with all fabric. No fabric remnants, however small, are thrown away. Our mailers are completely compostable, the tissue paper your garments will be wrapped in is made from 100% recycled paper (containing a minimum of 30% post-consumer fiber), and our clothing tags are made from undyed, GOTS certified 100% organic cotton.

When you shop Alf-Phi, not only are you getting beautiful, handmade items for your darling little one, but you are also helping to reduce the amount of waste that is harming our planet!
